You will find me to be an extremely dedicated individual who has developed a reputation as an exceptional teacher and leader.  I take great pride in my classroom abilities and my enthusiasm for taking on special projects which ultimately help students.  I communicate easily with children and adults, and demonstrate a genuine interest in meeting their needs.  I have extended these skills into many administrative and leadership positions, both in the public schools and private sector, including a two-term stint as the Mayor of Nederland, Colorado.

In every teaching and leadership position I have held, I have been well-regarded not only because of my interpersonal skills, but primarily due to my personal commitment to each student and employee.  Feedback from students, parents, and other faculty is consistently positive, and parents often comment on the academic, social, and emotional growth they see in their children.  Affecting change in a child who had no interest in school to that of a student who is excited about school and is learning every day is very rewarding.  The same can be said for my employees.

On an administrative level, I have held leadership positions in school and non-educational settings.  This includes roles as a Language Arts Curriculum Facilitator, PTO Vice President, and Chair of several committees.  I instituted unique fund raising programs, increased parent and teacher involvement in PTOs, and enhanced curriculum.  Other management experience stems from my position as Mayor of Nederland, Colorado, where I managed fiscal, project, and staffing needs.  As an SSN Special Education Teacher for Brighton 27J School District, I have managed a staff of seven paraprofessionals to create a unique and collaborative team.

In 1979 I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. In 2009 I finished my Graduate work in Elementary Education, Administration and Community Leadership. I have recently completed a Master’s Degree in Special Education and my Colorado Principal License. I have passed both of the Place tests for my Special Education – Generalist Degree and my Principal License.

In the summer I enjoy spending time at my cottage on Horsehead Lake in Northern Michigan. Pictured with me from left to right is my son Daniel, former exchange student Jakob and my son Jon. Not pictured is my eldest son Kaleb. I spent a lot of my childhood at this lake and love that we get to spend our free time there together.
